Ontarians have numerous choices for entertainment. From casinos, restaurants and bars, and theatres to sporting events, recreation, and hotel stays, there is a plethora of businesses in our area for fun and relaxation. Mid South Contractors ULC is proud to have performed the electrical work for many of these establishments and continues to do so today.

Casinos and Hotels

Caesars Windsor attracts about six million visitors annually. Mid South has worked with Caesars from its original construction to its renovation and expansion. This includes constructing a 5 kV substation and installing the electrical power, lighting, and security for the 27-story casino-hotel including its 25,000 sq. ft. ballroom, 5,000 seat Coliseum entertainment venue, 386 guest rooms, various meeting rooms, gaming floor, and 3-level underground parking garage. Mid South also performed the electrical construction and installed the safety systems for the 6-level, 5,000-space parking garage, electrical upgrades to the rotunda and the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, and supplied power to added outdoor lighting, a new 20,000 sq. ft. buffet, and several new bars.

Mid South Contractors ULC also performed front lobby, conference room, and administrative office renovations at Sarnia???s Point Edward Charity Casino, now known as Gateway Casino Point Edward.

Mid South was selected as the electrical contractor for construction of the new Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Windsor. We provided full electrical power and lighting for the 7-story, 147-room and suite property including the indoor pool, fitness facilities, and 1,000 person meeting space.

Theatres

The historic Chatham Capitol Theatre is a 1,214-seat entertainment venue in the heart of downtown Chatham, Ontario. Originally constructed in 1930, the theatre closed in 1993, but was purchased by a not-for-profit organization with the intent of restoring/reconstructing it.

During the restoration the main auditorium was outfitted with 755 seats and a balcony was added to accommodate another 455. Also added was a hydraulic orchestra pit, a stage with a 65-foot fly tower and state-of-the-art rigging, an elevator, three lounges, and advanced technology. Restoration was completed in 2014.

Recreation and Sports Facilities

Windsor residents were happy to see their brand new pool at the Windsor International Aquatic And Training Centre completed a full two months ahead of schedule AND under budget! DeAngelis Construction awarded Mid??South Contractors the electrical contracting portion of the $6.4 million design and construction of a building addition of more than 22,600 square feet to house the pool and related facilities.

The facility features a splash pad, therapy pool, and multi-lane competitive pool, as well as a built-in wheelchair ramp to access both pools and opened to the public on July 4, 2016. The main pool is 6-lanes x 25-metres with a water depth of 1.2 metres to 2.75 metres. There are also new women???s, men???s, and family change rooms with lockers and showers.

Mid South Contractors installed low voltage lighting, pool controls (mechanical pumps), emergency lighting in??the pool areas, and communications/security, as well as electrical for the change rooms and mechanical rooms. We also installed of state-of-the-art vapor tight LED lighting in the pool and splash pad areas.

Restaurants and Bars

From electrical for appliances and lighting to security and parking lot lighting, Mid South has powered up local Windsor casual dining and fast food establishments including Casey???s Grill & Bar, Applebee???s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Cora Breakfast & Lunch Restaurant, and Burger King.
